Fall Thunderstorm Moving In at Sunset
Thunderstorm arriving at sunset
Summer monsoon storms usually arrive from the west. This fall thunderstorm (dark cloud overhead) came in from the northeast, leaving a beautiful sunset followed by a LOUD thunderstorm and not too much rain.

Mermaid -Best of Show, Albuquerque Rose Show 2010
Over the past several years, I have documented ‘Mermaid’ as a beautiful Old Garden Rose (hybrid bracteata) introduced in 1918. She was up to my roof, and in May of 2006 won “Best of Show” in the Albuquerque Rose Show. You have seen that “The Big [...]

TrophyTable

Autumn in the Bosque
acequeias in autumn
Yesterday I walked in the bosque along the Rio Grande River. It was a glorious autumn afternoon. Spectacular in so many ways.

This was taken across the parking lot at UNM Continuing Education on the last night of a class in “Digital SLR Techniques.” Thank you [...]
Sunrises Are Nice, Also
This summer, we had spectacular sunsets. The fall sunrises are proving to be equally spectacular!

If you would like some music to go with it, this Miriam Makeba cover of Brand New Day seems especially appropriate.

Sunset, September 4, looking west
You have seen the rainbow in the purple-pink sky from September 4. That was looking east, toward the Sandia Mountains.
There was an equally spectacular view looking to the west.
Tonight’s Sky – A Single Rainbow
rainbow september 4 2009
In Albuquerque, rainbows frequently occur in pairs. Tonight, however, we got a single rainbow. It was gorgeous, though.
