Dwarf Peach, “Bonanza”
This dwarf peach tree has been growing in a 3/4 whiskey barrel since the late 1980’s. Its bloom heralds the arrival of spring, and is always spectacular. If Albuquerque does not get a hard freeze after this, the small tree produces abundant, delicious peaches. Even if a late freeze dooms the peach crop, the tree itself is wonderful, not only for the blooms, but for the lush foliage after that, and the interesting branch patterns even in the winter. It is a wonderful specimen for the high desert region.
The following photo is from 3/14/2005. I did not get many peaches that year!
Simply beautiful, Susan. Hugs!
Teagan, thank you!!! I love the dwarf peach in all seasons – in winter the branches are interesting, in spring the flowers are so beautiful, in summer the fruit is good, and in fall the leaves are pretty.
Thank you for stopping by, and for the comment!
